Key Points For Radon Testing

Radon testing is a critical step for every home, regardless of age or location. Elevated radon levels pose serious health risks, making accurate testing essential for both homeowners and buyers.

EPA Guidelines
• The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends testing in the lowest livable areas of a home, often the basement.
• Radon testing methods include:
Passive testing – placing test kits in the home for a set period.
Active testing – using electronic monitors to measure radon levels continuously.

Testing Conditions
• For dependable results, tests should run for a minimum of 48 hours.
• Homes must remain under “closed building conditions” during testing to ensure accuracy.
• If radon levels exceed the EPA action threshold of 4.0 picoCuries per liter (pCi/L), mitigation steps should be taken promptly.

Professional Oversight
At Maple Home Inspections, LLC, our certified inspectors conduct radon testing with precision and care. Each client receives a comprehensive report detailing test results. Because radon testing requires specialized training and licensing, only qualified professionals should perform these tests. We are licensed with the state to test for radon.

Just as with our Professional House Inspections and Pre-Purchase Home Inspections, our radon testing services adhere to all applicable regulations and industry standards. We are committed to ensuring the safety of your home and the well-being of your family.
